The GIS department has been here since the establishment of HIRMD in 2010. We have two certified GIS technicians. Kevin Starr received his training from Okanagan Collage and has three years of GIS and IT experience. Larry Reid is also a graduate from Okanagan College and has 8 years of experience as a GIS technician.  The GIS Department preforms a wide range of duties, including the generation and maintenance of maps, images, and data files and managing and updating the GIS files housed at HIRMD. We offer services to all HIRMD departments, including the:
  1. Forestry Department
  2. Cultural Heritage Department
  3. Aquatics Department
We are also available to do contract work for anyone in need of GIS services.  We have two single use ArcGIS basic licenses, which have recently been upgraded with the addition of two Spatial Analyst licenses.  Our technicians continue to upgrade their skills through training opportunities with Esri and forestry companies such as Western Forest Products.
