HIRMD is an integrated approach to stewardship and decision-making related to land, water and resources within Heiltsuk territory.
As a department HIRMD is relatively young, yet there is strong connectivity to the past. It is the product of years of political, legal and administrative efforts to advance recognition of Heiltsuk title and rights. Currently, our accomplishments far outweigh our challenges. Much of our success lies in the execution of a strategic vision by Heiltsuk leaders together with our highly skilled and dedicated professionals.
